I Went to the World Series in Houston

I was able to go to the last two games of the World Series and watched the Chicago White Sox make baseball history. Since I am related by marriage to someone on the White Sox staff, I was even able to go on the field after the win and join in the celebration. It was an event of a lifetime for me as well as the team. I’m not sure the players could believe they had really won.

The security guard at the Stadium gave me a scare. Everyone who had a bag with them had to have their bags screened. I put my purse on the table to be screened. He looked inside and said, “I should detain you.”
I could not be sure of what he said and I said “Pardon me”.

He repeated “ I should detain you”

I could not imagine what I might have in my purse that would cause a problem, so I asked “Why”

He said while looking at my Chicago White Sox T-Shirt, “You’re a White Sox fan.”
Then he smiled.

Whew! I laughed and said, “Houston has to have someone to play against.”

Later, my adult son who was standing behind me told me he wondered what in the world his mother had in her purse!

It was a great trip. I was able to stay with a good friend and enjoy some *girl time*. No car trouble and I have to compliment the people of Houston. I don’t know if the Chicago citizens would have been as gracious about losing. Had to drop off some friends at a small private Houston airport the next day. One of the staff at the airport said, “Congratulations, even though it hurts!”
